Brian R. Hackett, a lifelong resident of Monroe Township, is currently an 18 year old senior at Monroe Township High School.  He is running for the Board of Education after 13 years experience as a student in the district's schools.  He is a strong believer and participant in community service and civic responsibility.  He has a proud history of participation in community serving organizations, which include the Boy Scouts of America and the youth ministry of Saint Thomas the Apostle Church.  As a member of Monroe Township BSA Troop 3 since 1999, he has contributed over a hundred hours of community service and earned Scoutings highest rank of Eagle Scout in November 2003.  As a member of the youth ministry since 2001, Brian has served as its president and accumulated many hours of community service there as well.  In school, he has participated in programs such as Youth in Government and Model United Nations.  He is a graduate of Presidential Classroom and the FBI National Youth Leadership Program, session 7.  After turning 18, Brian wanted to further his involvement in the community by running for the Board of Education.  He is a strong believer in ensuring that students get the same, if not better, public education that he has received.  He will be attending the College of New Jersey in the fall.
